It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our honorary member Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hans-Jürgen Zimmermann, at the age of 92, after a short, serious illness surrounded by his family. His extraordinary contributions to science, teaching and practice will be recognized with his induction into the IFORS Hall of Fame in July, and are described in more detail in the corresponding article.

Hans-Jürgen Zimmermann made significant scientific advantages through his own findings, numerous publications, and their application in business practice. He supported his many former colleagues in their individual career paths and also mentored many national and international scientists. He always fostered a sense of connection and constructive collaboration.

The German OR Society owes hin a great debt of gratitude and will always cherish his memory.
