Important and urgent: new ERC opportunities for OR

We are extremely pleased to announce that, in response to a request from EURO on behalf of all Operational Research academics, the European Research Council (ERC) has agreed to include the term Operational Research in one of the current descriptors of the Mathematics Panel (PE1).

Starting from the 2021 calls the PE1_20 descriptor is renamed into "Control, Optimisation and Operational Research."

I would therefore like to ask you to consider submitting an ERC proposal - this is particularly important for young researchers eligible for Starting Grants (2 to 7 years after Ph.D.).

The European Commission has recently presented
https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/IP_21_685 the ERC Work Programme for 2021
https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/docs/2021-2027/horizon/wp-call/2021/wp_horizon-erc-2021_en.pdf

The launch of the first ERC Call in Horizon Europe, the Starting Grant Call 2021, is foreseen for February 25. The deadline for the Starting Grant Call 2021 has been further postponed to April 8, 2021, whereas the envisaged deadlines for the Consolidator and the Advanced Grant Call 2021 remain unchanged (April 20 and August 31, 2021, respectively).

The updated ERC Call Calendar https://erc.europa.eu/news/erc-kicks-off-horizon-europe for 2021 has been published on the ERC homepage, along with a video summarizing key facts and novelties of the ERC Calls under Work Programme 2021.

EURO remains open to any feedback or questions for clarification, and will activate its network to support at its best colleagues willing to submit an ERC proposal.

For the time being, you find below a subset of interesting links on the issue.
