The EWG-DSS Collab-Net Project
The project Collab-Net works on a Social Network Perspective of DSS-Research Collaboration in Europe, within the EURO Working Group on Decision Support Systems (EWG-DSS).
Currently the Collab-Net project is in its Version 5 and counts with an intensive research cooperation between the EWG-DSS Coordination Members and their teams and the research team of the Management Engineering Department of the Federal University of Pernambuco UFPE in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. The figure below summarizes the work being carried out in Collab-Net Version 5.

The presentation below, entitled: “EWG-DSS Collab-Net”, was given in the EWG-DSS Thessaloniki-2013 Workshop on “Exploring New Directions for Decisions in the Internet Age” , during the period of May 29-31,2013.

In 2016 the EWG-DSS Collab-Net has advanced in its development, with the support of EWG-DSS members from the UFPE – Management Engineering Department, in Recife – Brazil, and an online platform was deployed linking the collaboration data of the EWG-DSS members initially with the Google Scholar database. This platform (http://www.collab-net.com/) needs now to be tested and used by the EWG-DSS group members .

A Social-Academic Network for EWG-DSS
The Coordination Board is currently also conducting a study about research interests of the group members, to draw a knowledge map on Decision Support Systems. This project targets mainly to disseminate research being conducted by members of the group. As a primary step, we will develop a social structure for the group, using us – the group members – as its defined population. By doing this, we will devise a social-academic network analysis for identifying the collaboration relationship that exits among the EWG-DSS members on one hand, and also provide a useful feedback for further collaboration in joint research on the other, hopefully encouraging new research and academic cooperation within the group.
Preliminary results of this project were already presented in the DSS Streams of the 2009 – EURO XXIII Conference in Bonn and of the 2010 – EURO XXIV Conference in Lisbon.

The presentation below, entitled: “A Collaboration Network for the EURO Working Group on Decision Support Systems”, was given as an invited talk on 17.11.2009 by Fátima Dargam at the Statistics and Operations Research Department of the University of Graz in Austria.
