Meeting Aims and Objectives
The 17th ESICUP Meeting is the 2018 regular meeting of ESICUP and follows meetings in Wittenberg (Germany), Southampton (United Kingdom), Porto (Portugal), Tokyo (Japan), L’Aquila (Italy), Valencia (Spain), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Copenhagen (Denmark), La Laguna (Spain), Lille (France), Beijing (China), Portsmouth (UK), Ibiza (Spain), Liège (Belgium), Zoetermeer Zoetermeer (The Netherlands) and Mexico City (Mexico).
ESICUP gathers practitioners, researchers and Operations Research educators with interests in the area of Cutting and Packing. The purpose of ESICUP is to improve communication among individuals working in this field. Besides the promotion of publications, the activities of the group include the maintenance of a web page and the organization of meetings. Founded in 1988, during the EURO/TIMS Conference in Paris, by Prof. Gerhard Waescher and Prof. Harald Dyckhoff, it has now around 600 members, registered on the web site, from the entire world. ESICUP is since 2003 a Working Group of the Association of European Operational Research Societies (EURO).
Topics of Interest
In this meeting contributions dealing with any aspect of the Cutting and Packing problems formulation, resolution or application are welcomed. This includes theoretical achievements, algorithms development and real-world implementations. Different problems, related with Cutting and Packing, are also welcomed. Typical, but not exclusive topics of interest are:
- One-Dimensional Problems
- Two-Dimensional Rectangular Problems
- Nesting and irregular shapes packing
- Three-Dimensional Packing
- Container Loading
- Problem generators and benchmarks
- Additional Objectives and Constraints in C&P
- Industrial applications

- February 5, 2020 – Deadline for Abstract Submission.
- March 1, 2020 – Notification of acceptance.
- March 15, 2020 – Deadline for early registration and authors registration.
- April 22-24, 2020 – 17th ESICUP Meeting.
Early registration fee (until April 13, 2018): 130 Euro.
Late registration fee (after April 13, 2018): 160 Euro.
The fee includes:
- Booklet and materials;
- Get together on Wednesday(22/04/2020), Buffet-style lunch and Coffee-breaks on Thursday and Friday;
- Conference dinner;

- Two bursaries for Eastern Europe countries of €250 each.
- Two bursaries for PhD students of €250 each.

To submit a communication to the 17th ESICUP Meeting write an abstract (3000 characters maximum, approximately 1 page, and elucidative about the problem tackled, the methodology used and the main conclusions drawn) on a cutting and packing topic and submit it no later than February 15, 2020. The notification of acceptance of your communication will reach you until March 1, 2020. The abstracts of the accepted communications will be included into the 17th ESICUP Meeting proceedings book that will be available to download.
