Following its inaugural session in Ghent (<\/span><a class=\"XqQF9c\" href=\"https:\/\/robinxval.ugent.be\/workshop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"C9DxTc \">2018<\/span><\/a><span class=\"C9DxTc \">), the subsequent edition in London (2018), and the third edition in Ghent (<\/span><a class=\"XqQF9c\" href=\"https:\/\/robinxval.ugent.be\/FairnessInSports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"C9DxTc \">2024<\/span><\/a><span class=\"C9DxTc \">), the workshop is hosted now by the Hungarian capital, Budapest!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"zfr3Q CDt4Ke \" dir=\"ltr\"><span class=\"C9DxTc \">Fairness in sport does not only mean assigning the top prizes to the best competitors. It is also about the way the tournament itself is organised. How to design rules that do not favour certain competitors? How to design a schedule of play that offers similar chances to each participant? How to reconcile various, often conflicting design criteria?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"zfr3Q CDt4Ke \" dir=\"ltr\"><span class=\"C9DxTc \">The workshop focuses on scientific methods to improve fairness in sports, both from a theoretical and a practical point of view. Topics will include tournament scheduling and rule design. Methods will mainly include game theory, operational research, and statistics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"zfr3Q CDt4Ke \" dir=\"ltr\"><span class=\"C9DxTc \">The workshop will be a 1-day event and will take place on\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"C9DxTc \">12th June 2026<\/span><span class=\"C9DxTc \">\u00a0(Friday).
