SUMMARY:1st Reading Football Economics Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The 1st Reading Football Economics Workshop will take place on 19-21 September 2019 in Reading\, and is hosted by the Centre for Institutions and Economic History at the University of Reading. There will be two keynote talks\, a number of contributed sessions and informal social events. \nWe invite submissions from scholars on research related to the area of football economics or management\, be it applications to football\, or the use of football to inform economics and other topics. Full paper submissions are preferred\, but extended abstracts will also be considered. \nWe particularly encourage submissions from PhD students and postdocs. \nSubmit full papers or extended abstracts to James Reade at j.j.reade@reading.ac.uk. \nSubmission Deadline: 21 June. Notification by 12 July. \n

SUMMARY:2019 New England symposium on Statistics in Sports
DESCRIPTION:The 2019 New England Symposium on Statistics in Sports will be a meeting of statisticians\, statistical researchers\, and quantitative analysts connected with sports teams\, sports media\, and universities to discuss common problems of interest in statistical modeling and analysis of sports data. The symposium format will be a mixture of invited talks\, a poster session\, and a panel discussion. Students in particular are encouraged to submit abstracts; a prize will be awarded to the best student poster as decided by a panel of judges. \nRegistration is now open. Registration information\, including fees and methods of payment\, can be found at http://www.nessis.org/registration.html \nAbstracts for talks and posters are now requested; the submission deadline for abstracts is June 15\, 2019. \nDecisions for accepting abstracts will be made by June 30\, 2019. \nFurther details of the 2019 NESSIS are forthcoming.
