DESCRIPTION:University of Reading\, and Paderborn University are organizing a conference on the economics and finance of football. It is aimed to highlight high quality research of the football industry as well as to facilitate the cooperation between academics and practitioners. \nThe organizers invite researchers to submit extended abstracts for presentation. Theoretical and empirical research papers that cover the economic\, financial\, social\, and managerial aspects of the football industry are welcome. The list of possible topics includes\, but is not limited to: transfer market\, discrimination\, football league regulations\, women football\, youth football\, tournament design\, optimization of match strategies\, corruption\, betting\, spectators’ demand\, financial and social issues of the World Cup\, scheduling\, referee assignments\, and competitive balance. \nTo participate in the conference\, please submit an extended abstract (3 pages) by February 15\, 2022. It should briefly describe the methodology of research\, clearly state the hypotheses and main results\, and emphasize contribution to the literature. SUMMARY:AI for Sports Analytics workshop
DESCRIPTION:The past decade has seen a tremendous growth of interest in sports analytics\, not only from an economic and commercial perspective\, but also from a purely scientific one. In fact\, there has been a growing number of papers published at top artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning venues that revolve around problems in sports\, as well as multiple scientific events organized on the topic. Similar to other downstream domains that have benefited from advances of AI and machine learning\, this growth in interest is due to important technological improvements in data collection and processing capabilities\, progress in statistical learning and in particular deep learning\, increased computational resources\, and ever-growing economic activities associated with sports and culture (e.g.\, emergent consultancy ventures revolving around sports data collection and statistics). \nThe purpose of this workshop on AI for Sports Analytics is to bring together AI researchers\, sports data scientists\, and other stakeholders who are interested in the intersection of AI and sports. In particular\, we are interested in attracting work that focuses on the overlap of multiple areas of AI such as machine learning\, game theory\, and computer vision and their application to the sports analytics domain. It is aimed to highlight high quality research of the football industry as well as to facilitate the cooperation between academics and practitioners. \nThe organizers invite researchers to submit papers for presentation. Theoretical and empirical research papers that cover the economic\, financial\, social\, and managerial aspects of the football industry are welcome. SUMMARY:First AAAI Workshop on A.I. in Team Sports
DESCRIPTION:Sports is a domain that has grown significantly over the last 20 years to become a key driver of many economies. According to a recent report (https://urlzs.com/tsvbY)\, the estimated size of the global sports industry is $1.3 trillion\, and has an audience of over 1 billion. As the market has grown so has the amount of data that is collected. This means that there are a number of challenging problems in sports to predict and optimise performance but\, so far\, such problems have largely been dealt with by domain experts (e.g.\, coaches\, managers\, scouts\, and sports health experts) with basic analytics. \nThe growing availability of datasets in sports presents a unique opportunity for the artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) communities to develop\, validate\, and apply new techniques in the real world. In team sports\, real-world data is available over long periods of time\, about the same individuals and teams\, in a variety of environmental contexts\, thereby creating a unique live test-bed for AI and ML techniques. While research in AI for team sports has grown over the last 20 years\, it is as yet unclear how they relate to each other or build upon each other as they tend to either focus on specific types of team sports or specific prediction and optimisation problems that are but one part of the whole field. SUMMARY:OR in Sports at EURO 2019
DESCRIPTION:The EURO working group “OR in Sports” is organizing a stream on OR in Sports\, as part of the EURO Conference\, June 23-26 2019 in Dublin\, Ireland (more information about the conference can be found at http://euro2019dublin.com/).  We are aiming for a sports track covering various applications and methodologies (e.g. optimization\, statistics\, analytics\, …)\, much like the sessions we had at the previous EURO conferences in Valencia and Poznan. \nThis is a reminder about our invitation to submit an abstract to the “OR in sports” stream. DESCRIPTION:Khazar University (Baku\, Azerbaijan)\, New Economic School (Moscow\, Russia) and Higher School of Economics (Russia) cordially invite you to submit your abstracts for presentation at the 3rd International Conference on Football Economics that will take place in Baku (Azerbaijan) on May 29-31\, 2019 at the days of the UEFA Europa League final. The conference is aimed to highlight high-quality research of the football industry as well as to facilitate the cooperation between academics and practitioners. \nThe deadline for submitting an extended abstract (approximately 3 pages long) is March 15\, 2019. Notification of acceptance will be sent by March 31\, 2019. Extended abstract submission is through EasyChair. The submissions would be refereed much the same way as journal submissions are refereed\, with no guarantee of acceptance into the volume. SUMMARY:XX April Conference on Economic and Social Development
DESCRIPTION:The April Conference of the Higher School of Economics (HSE) is the main forum in Russia in social sciences\, first of all\, in Economics. Last years\, about 1500 colleagues participated in these conferences including honorary speakers – Nobel laureates Kenneth Arrow\, Eric Maskin and Muhammad Yunus. \nHSE invites researchers to submit papers for presentation at the `Sports studies’ section of the conference. Section comprises theoretical and empirical research papers that deal with economic\, social\, and managerial problems of sports industry. The articles on the following possible topics are very welcome: success factors in sport\, leagues regulation\, tournament design\, contest theory\, tournament and match strategies\, corruption\, betting\, spectator interest studies\, financial and social issues of sporting mega-events\, scheduling\, competitive balance\, eSports and other. \nThe deadline for submitting an extended abstract is November 12\, 2018. Submission is through on-line system. An extended abstract (700-1000 words) must be attached to the application form in either MS Word or RTF formats. An abstract should clearly state the problem being studied\, as well as describe the approach to its solution and the main results. In addition\, the abstract should indicate the novelty of the obtained results in comparison with previously published works. The abstract should be in Russian or English. \nWorking languages of the Conference are Russian and English. Simultaneous translation will be available during all plenary and some session meetings.
