SUMMARY:4th Eastern Conference on Football Economics and 6th Western Conference on Football and Finance
DESCRIPTION:HSE University\, New Economic School (NES)\, and University of Reading are organizing a conference on the economics and finance of football. It is aimed to highlight high quality research of the football industry as well as to facilitate the cooperation between academics and practitioners. \nThe organizers invite researchers to submit papers for presentation. Theoretical and empirical research papers that cover the economic\, financial\, social\, and managerial aspects of the football industry are welcome. The list of possible topics includes\, but is not limited to: success factors in football\, football league regulations\, financial fair-play\, tournament design\, contest theory\, optimization of match strategies\, corruption\, betting\, spectators’ demand\, financial and social issues of the World Cup\, scheduling\, and competitive balance. \nThe deadline for submitting an extended abstract (maximum 3 pages in length) is February 1\, 2020. The submission should briefly describe the methodology of research\, clearly state the hypotheses and main results\, and emphasize contribution to the literature. Notification of acceptance will be sent by March 1\, 2020. Extended abstract submission is through EasyChair. Plenary speakers are Helmut Dietl (University of Zurich)\, David Forrest (University of Liverpool)\, and Robert Simmons (Lancaster University). \nThere is no conference fee. \nThe author of accepted abstract must submit a full paper by May 1\, 2020. The program committee will assign a discussant to each paper by June 1\, 2020.
