SUMMARY:BOR workshop: Modelling for inclusion
DESCRIPTION:How does constructing and using models influence human behavior? How can behavior be adequately captured in models? These are core questions the Behavioral Operational Research (BOR) field is trying to answer. This year’s BOR Fall workshop aims to bring together PhDs\, postdocs\, and early- and senior-career researchers in the field for workshops\, coaching\, and an update on the status of the field. The workshop will offer ample opportunity to learn about new methods and exchange ideas with colleagues. Early career researchers will have the opportunity to present ongoing research projects (in a 3-5 min pitch) and receive feedback from experienced researchers. \n  \nThe 2026 workshop theme is “Modeling for inclusion”. This theme recognizes that models are used to understand the behavior of diverse groups\, draw on knowledge and information held by different actor groups\, and may impact actors in different ways. Actors differ in their influence over which issue the model focuses on\, which method(s) will be applied\, and which problem elements to include. Modeling for inclusion draws attention to justice as applied to modeling\, ethical considerations\, diversity\, and actor involvement. \n  \nThe 2026 BOR workshop is planned for 28 and 29 October 2026 at Radboud University in Nijmegen\, the Netherlands. Radboud University has a long tradition of facilitated modeling and applications in grand challenges like gender diversity\, sustainability\, health\, and mobility. We look forward to welcoming you! \n  \nAbstracts for presentations (max. 150 words) and registration before October 1st\, 2026 \n  \nLocation: Radboud University campus\, Nijmegen\, the Netherlands. \nCosts: 50 euros\, including 2 days’ lunch and 1 day’s dinner. If you want to attend but have difficulties in finding funding\, please contact us. \n  \nRegistration\, submission\, and questions: email Femke (femke.bekius@ru.nl) or Etiënne (etienne.rouwette@ru.nl)
