Abstract

This research develops a quantum ready framework for the Unrelated Parallel Machine scheduling problem with a restrictive due date. We reformulate the quadratic model into a Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization framework for Quantum Annealing. The study addresses just-in-time industrial dynamics where classical solvers face non-convexity bottlenecks. By mapping discrete constraints into penalties, the system navigates energy landscapes via quantum tunneling. Preliminary results using quantum simulators validate the reformulation and benchmarks solutions against solvers like Gurobi.
