Abstract
Managing UNESCO sites requires understanding the complex interactions among tourists, local community, real estate market and heritage conservation. This research explores the integration of AWOT analysis with causal mapping to support decision-making in the Edinburgh context. The multicriteria analysis was initially applied to identify and prioritize management issues. The findings were then used to make explicit the underlying structure of UNESCO sites through causal mapping. Exploring the feedback structure allows for characterizing long-term sustainable management of World Heritage Sites.
