Abstract
What is uncertainty? And what is the role uncertainty plays in the decision-making process? What does it mean to "invent" something? In this talk we will explore how the art of Analytics evolved over two millennia to produce tools and techniques we use today to make decisions under uncertainty. While doing so, we will put an emphasis on key developments in the realm of accounting and inventory management, and of Artificial Intelligence, and we will reveal surprising connections across these disciplinary domains.
