Abstract
The first EJCO Special Issue was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the foundation in 2000 of the EUROpt Working Group. It contained 2 historical notes and 9 survey papers, and represents an archival record of the achievements of the working group and its continuing success. We will briefly recall the context and motivation for this Special Issue, and its impact since publication. In addition, we will present recent progress in solving large-scale real-world instances of optimal location of EV charging stations.
