Abstract

Ocado Group is a global technology business redefining e-commerce, fulfilment and logistics in online grocery and beyond. We leverage cutting-edge technology solutions in automation, robotics, machine learning and AI for online grocery and non-grocery distribution.
These solutions are developed by Ocado Technology, a technological arm of the Ocado Group, and delivered via the Ocado Smart Platform (“OSP”), an end-to-end suite of solutions to enable operational efficiencies and high-standard customer experiences for our global partners.

Fulfilment, the last mile and the supply chain are significant areas of focus for online grocery retailers - impacting profitability and customer experience.

This talk dives into the challenges our solutions need to address in last-mile, replenishment network, and fulfilment optimisation domains. For example, in the last mile, we need to maintain an optimised vehicle routing solution at scale, even as customers continue to place, edit or cancel their orders. In replenishment network optimisation, our solution needs to ensure sufficient stock levels while avoiding purge and satisfying storage, transportation and other operational constraints. In the fulfilment domain, we need to ensure efficient warehouse operations.

We focus on how Ocado Technology’s Data Science Team applies OR, ML, and hybrid approaches to develop highly efficient solutions that address these complex challenges while balancing multiple business objectives.
