Abstract
How do we convince our management and/or customer managers to kickstart and invest in new OR projects and products? What works well, what doesn't? This round table discussion brings together 3 experienced leaders to explore how we can get top management to accept the disruption, change and risk that come with any major OR project.
Panel members:
Gueorgui Mihaylov is Principal Data Scientist (AI Director) at Haleon plc, and also has a visiting position at Kings College London.
Tetyana Mykhaylyk is Director of Information, Data and Analysis at the UK Government's Valuation Office Agency.
Rubén Ruiz is currently Principal Applied Scientist within EC2 at Amazon Web Services. He mainly does large-scale optimization in bin packing and balancing problems. Prior to that, he was full professor of statistics and OR at the Polytechnical University of Valencia, Spain, where he did optimization consulting for many companies for more than 20 years.
The panel will be chaired by Ruth Kaufman, a past president of the UK's OR Society, whose career has included leading OR teams, being a senior manager commissioning OR projects, and chairing the Government OR Service, the EURO Practitioners Forum, and the UK's Pro Bono OR scheme.
