Abstract
This communication includes first how Professor Hans Zimmermann in 1972/73 suggested to establish a European OR association including all the national European OR scientific societies. This initiative has been essential for the birth of EURO. After a meeting devoted to this subject Professor Jean-Pierre Brans proposed to organize the first European conference on OR in Brussels in January 1975. Some amusing souvenirs of this conference will be reminded. It has been a fair success and a promising starting event for the enthusiastic early days of EURO and its brilliant future.
A lecture on Prof. Jean-Pierre Brans will be given by Prof. Cathal MacSwiney Brugha.
Many thanks to him for this important service.
