Abstract
The Roof of Africa Project utilizes system dynamics modelling and scenario simulation to evaluate and refine its interventions. This approach provides a robust framework for understanding and addressing complex, interconnected challenges. Through system dynamics modelling, policymakers can visualize how interventions such as financial incentives, infrastructure development, and societal attitude shifts impact outcomes like school enrolment and community well-being over time. Baseline and intervention scenarios enable policymakers to compare the effectiveness of various initiatives, identifying those with the most significant and sustainable benefits. The modelling process captures feedback loops, such as the relationship between increased primary school enrolment and community support or how improved attitudes toward education reinforce student participation. These insights help optimize policy design. Scenario simulations provide a long term forecast of intervention outcomes, offering critical insights into timing, sustainability, and resource allocation to achieve long-term developmental goals. Adjustable parameters in the simulation model allow for sensitivity testing, identifying leverage points that maximize impact with minimal resources. Scenario simulation results are visually and quantitatively communicated, fostering collaboration among government agencies, NGOs, and local communities to align goals and resources.
