Abstract
Current definitions of Behavioural OR have been criticised for being too open and unprecise. However, we should note that the openness of a definition can be seen as a natural first stage in a developing domain. In defining a new sub-field within OR, we must address the challenge of striking a balance between breath and specificity. In this tutorial, we address this challenge by providing a clearer definition of Behavioural OR with a view to helping OR academics and practitioners enter the field on a good footing. We argue that the definition formulated here can help clarify the new benefits that Behavioural OR may bring to the OR community, as well as make it distinctive from other cognate areas within and beyond OR.
