Abstract
Evaluation of the importance of criteria using weights is usually an integral part of solving multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problems. MCDM methods often require independent criteria, but this may not be true for real problems. Significant dependence then leads to either a reduction or a strengthening of importance. There are several approaches that can reflect the dependency between criteria, e.g., CRITIC method or the methods based on the Choquet integral. Existing approaches, however, suffer from drawbacks. They are based on the correlation which does not reflect the direction of dependence or expert evaluations. This contribution focuses on the application of the fuzzy functional dependencies (FFD) to reflect the dependencies between criteria in their weights. The model is tested using several numerical examples.
