Abstract
The Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI), a major DEA advancement, evaluates productivity changes over time in decision-making unit (DMU) with multiple inputs and outputs. This paper addresses the underexplored scenario of a single input with multiple outputs or vice versa. Existing MPI models often overlook non-Archimedean epsilon, but our novel approach incorporates it in scenarios featuring a single input or output. An efficient procedure is proposed for problem-solving in both input- and output-oriented cases. Theoretical validation through theorems is complemented by a practical analysis of productivity growth across 18 OECD countries from 2005 to 2021, demonstrating the methodology's effectiveness.
