Abstract
Operations research involves mathematical modeling and analytic techniques. Some people learn modeling and then analytics, some learn the other way around, and some learn them simultaneously. Most modern textbooks seem to teach them together and center the modeling. Are there problems with that? I will explain why I think so. Can we do better? I will discuss how I think we can.
