The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has launched a call for three Distinguished Researcher positions aimed at attracting top researchers with an internationally recognized record of scientific excellence and impact. Candidates must have:
• A PhD in the relevant research field
• At least 10 years of demonstrable postdoctoral research experience
• Highly Cited Papers (HCPs) above the 50th percentile of Highly Cited Researchers in their ESI field
• At least 8 papers published or accepted in indexed journals during the last 12 months
• An individual FWCI ≥ 1.5 in Scopus/SciVal
• A Scopus h-index ≥ 50
All four scientific thresholds must be met to be admitted to the selection process.
What does UPV offer?
The initial contract is for 3 years, with the possibility of annual extensions subject to funding and a favorable evaluation. For a full-time contract, the maximum UPV-funded remuneration is €95,000 gross per year, plus social-security costs. Part-time arrangements may also be negotiated. In addition, each selected researcher receives a €100,000 research-integration allocation in the first year. This can support activities such as hiring predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers.
The selected researcher will join a UPV Research Structure (e.g., CIGIP-UPV, https://cigip.webs.upv.es/) with the broader objective of strengthening international collaboration, competitive funding, high-impact research, innovation, and the development of junior researchers.
Application deadline: November 5th, 2026. The application must include, among other documents, the required application form, a favorable acceptance report from the UPV Research Structure, PhD documentation, CVs, a maximum 2,000-word research plan, and a motivation letter.
