Call for Papers – Special Issue in OR Spectrum. Data-Driven Optimization. Deadline: 31 December 2026

In connection with the IFORS 2026, we are calling for papers on the Special Issue: Data-driven Optimization in OR Spectrum. While we particularly encourage participants of the IFORS Conference, the call is open for all submissions.

The special issue aims on publishing state-of-the-art research on relevant decision problems, e.g., from the fields of
- Last-mile Logistics
- On-demand Delivery
- Mobility
- Demand Management
- Supply Chain Management
- Health Care Operations
- Retail Operations
The methodological focus of the special issue is on smart integration of data into Operations Research methods, e.g., by
- integrating predictions of demand, orders, etc. into OR-methods
- considering stochasticity and dynamism in the decision making
- steering the search of the OR-methods based on data
- deriving insights into data structure and designing OR-methods accordingly
We note that submissions are required to focus on a particular practical problem. Papers that optimize general prediction methodology are outside the scope of this SI. Furthermore, while not mandatory, utilizing real-world data is a big plus. Please do not hesitate to reach out to one of the Guest Editors in case you are unsure about the fit of your work:

- Beginning of submissions: August-1, 2026
- Deadline for submissions: December-31, 2026
- Final date of publication: December-31, 2027
