University of Minho has opened an international selection tender (Ref. CTTI-PI-63/26-CALG(1)) for the hiring of 1 doctoral researcher, within the scope of the project Firesys - AI-empowered Decision Support System for Wildfire Management (COMPETE2030-FEDER-02230700), funded by the National Innovation Agency through Portugal 2030.
The FireSys project will design a multimodal, AI-based decision support system to prevent and fight wildfires, including new fire prediction models, intelligent fire and smoke propagation models, and optimization methods for the positioning and deployment of firefighting resources. The position advertised is specifically within this last component, on optimization methods for the positioning and deployment of firefighting resources.
The selected candidate will join the research team, working with Professor Filipe Alvelos and Professor Elsa Silva, from the Department of Production and Systems, School of Engineering, University of Minho, at the ALGORITMI Research Centre.
