The Operations and Supply Chain Management Area in the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in “Innovative Business Models involving Autonomous Vehicles”.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will join a collaborative research team of faculty and graduate students under the supervision of Dr. Osman Alp. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct research on innovative business models involving autonomous vehicles, with a particular emphasis on shared mobility systems and emerging transportation technologies. The primary methodological focus of the project is on game-theoretic and behavioral modeling. However, outstanding candidates with complementary expertise are strongly encouraged to apply.
The position offers an annual salary of CAD $60,000, plus benefits in accordance with University of Calgary postdoctoral guidelines. The appointment is for a two-year term beginning in Fall 2026. The start date is flexible to accommodate the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Conduct high-quality research leading to publications in top-tier journals;
• Contribute to knowledge mobilization and thought leadership activities that disseminate research findings beyond academia;
• Participate in the preparation of internal and external grant applications;
• Deliver an internal research presentation during the second year of the appointment;
• Mentor PhD students and collaborate with other members of the research team;
• Foster interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations when opportunities arise;
• Participate in professional development activities that enhance academic and research skills;
• Engage in the scholarly life and activities of the Haskayne School of Business; and
• Submit annual progress reports as part of the annual performance review process.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Management Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a related field by the start date of the appointment. Research experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
• Behavioral Operations Management
• Game Theory and Equilibrium Analysis
Experience in stochastic modeling and optimization is considered an asset. Candidates should also possess strong computational and programming skills using modern analytical tools and platforms.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong potential for publishing in leading academic journals; has research interests that align with the expertise of the research team; can work effectively in collaborative and interdisciplinary research environments; and must reside in Calgary, Alberta, for the duration of the appointment.
