Postdoctoral Research Position in Operations Research at UNESP, São José do Rio Preto, Brazil
Research Project “Cutting, packing, lot-sizing, scheduling, routing, location and their integration in industrial and logistics settings”, supported by São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) offers one post-doctoral fellowship.
This opportunity is to work with the Systems Modeling and Optimization Group of the Mathematics Department (DM) at São Paulo State University (UNESP) campus Sao Jose do Rio Preto, Brazil, under the supervision of Prof. Silvio Alexandre de Araujo. The objective of the project is to study, classify and propose mathematical models and solution methods for lot-sizing problems integrated to other problems of the industrial production planning and programming.
REQUIREMENTS: The post-doctoral candidate should have experience in operations research techniques, including optimization mathematical modelling, linear and integer programming. It is desirable previous knowledges in integrated lot-sizing problems. Candidates must have some experience with programming languages, preferably C, C++, or Python. Strong academic performance during undergraduate and/or graduate studies is expected, with no course failures. Full-time dedication to the fellowship is required. The PhD degree must be in areas related to combinatorial optimization or operations research and must have been obtained no more than seven years ago.
The selection will be based on the candidates' curriculum and their potential to contribute to this project, as well as to the associated FAPESP Thematic Project”
The following documents are required:
* Curriculum vitae with a list of publications and previous experience.
* Complete academic records (academic transcript).
* A cover letter for your application.

The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral scholarship from FAPESP (BR$ 12.570,00 approximately US$2,500.00 per month tax free), besides additional funds of 10% of the annual value of the scholarship to meet unforeseen expenses and directly related to the research activity. In addition, a relocation allowance is provided as follows:
For relocations of 50 km or more and less than 350 km:
– An additional monthly scholarship payment.
For relocations of 350 km or more:
– An additional monthly scholarship payment; and
– Coverage of ground and/or economy-class air transportation expenses for the fellow, spouse, and dependents.
There is also a possibility for an extra grant for a Research Internship Abroad (RIA) (https://fapesp.br/en/bepe).
