The Operations and Supply Chain Management Area in the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship. While the specific research project is flexible, it should align with one or more of the following areas:

Optimization and stochastic modeling

Healthcare operations and decision support

Reinforcement learning or dynamic decision models

Data-driven operations management
The successful candidate will work closely in a team of faculty, students and industry collaborators (including healthcare clinicians and administrators) under the supervision of Hossein Piri and Marco Bijvank. Application areas include healthcare operations and service systems, though outstanding candidates in all areas are encouraged to apply.
Salary and benefits are competitive based on qualifications and experience (up to $70,000/year), in accordance with University of Calgary postdoctoral guidelines. The initial appointment is for one year starting in Fall 2026 and is renewable based on mutual consent and satisfactory performance. There is flexibility with regards to the starting date to accommodate the selected candidate.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. completed in the last 3 years (or be close to completion) in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning or a related field. Appropriate candidates should demonstrate strong abilities to conduct applied and theoretical research in stochastic modeling and statistical/data analytics, and have strong programming skills (Python, R, or similar).
