The EURO HOpe Working Group on Humanitarian Operations and Zero Hunger Lab are pleased to announce the 10th EURO HOpe mini conference, which will be held in person on 15 and 16 October 2026 in Tilburg, the Netherlands.
EURO HOpe (European Humanitarian Operations Research for People and the Environment) brings together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers who are committed to improving humanitarian response and long-term resilience through rigorous analytics and real-world collaboration. The conference is known for its unique blend of state-of-the-art academic research, practical field expertise, and co-creation of solutions that make a tangible difference for people facing crises.
The 2026 edition in Tilburg will emphasize two-way learning between academics and practitioners working in humanitarian aid, development, and crisis management.
We kindly ask that all presenters register by 31 July 2026.
The keynote at the 10th EURO HOpe conference will be given by Prof. Dr. Maria Besiou.
Prof. Dr. Maria Besiou is Professor of Humanitarian Logistics at Kühne Logistics University (KLU), Hamburg, Germany. She also serves as the Academic Director of the Center of Humanitarian Logistics and Regional Development (CHORD). Maria Besiou received the Luk Van Wassenhove Career Award in 2025.
Professor Luk Van Wassenhove is a pioneer scholar in humanitarian operations. He strives to close the loop between theory and practice. To honor Professor Van Wassenhove’s commitment to relevant research in humanitarian operations as well as his commitment to his co-authors, students, and the academic community, this award was established. EURO HOpe has appointed a committee to select the winner of this award.
