Professor Zdzisław Pawlak (1926–2006) is widely regarded as one of the fathers of Computer Science in Poland. His groundbreaking Rough Sets theory became one of the most recognizable contributions of Polish science to Artificial Intelligence worldwide.
Throughout his career, Professor Pawlak emphasized the importance of cross-disciplinary, international, and cross-generational collaboration. While a brilliant idea may originate in a single mind, it requires cooperation, diverse expertise, and shared effort to transform it into impactful research and real-world applications.
Inspired by these principles, the Professor Zdzisław Pawlak Awards at FedCSIS 2026 recognize outstanding papers submitted to the conference in the following categories:
