We are inviting applications for five fully funded Ph.D. positions in the fields of Banking Analytics, Climate Risk, and Financial Stability. These opportunities span two institutions—the University of Southampton (UK) and Western University (Canada)—and offer the chance to work within a highly collaborative international research network. All positions start on September 2026.

Option 1: Position in the UK (University of Southampton)
Lead Supervisor: Dr. María Óskarsdóttir (Co-supervised by Prof. Cristián Bravo, Western University)
The Project: We are seeking one Ph.D. student to study the Impact of Climate and Political Events on Financial Stability. The project focuses on designing deep learning architectures for dynamic financial networks to model how external shocks (climate and political) affect credit risk. You will work with real nationwide microentrepreneur data in partnership with a leading microfinance institution.

Location: Banking Analytics Lab, Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences
Funding: Fully funded for four years (Annual stipend of CAD$30,000 + research/travel funds).
