The 2026 Land-Doig MIP Competition is now open!
The
2026 Land-Doig MIP Competition is a computational competition hosted by the
2026 Mixed Integer Programming Workshop, offering an opportunity for teams to showcase their practical and computational prowess and fostering innovation in computational MIP. It is named in honor of Ailsa H. Land and Alison G. Harcourt (née Doig), who proposed the first LP-based branch-and-bound algorithm.
This year's theme is GPU-Accelerated Primal Heuristics for Mixed-Integer Programming (MIP). We are seeing an increasing momentum in the development of optimization algorithms designed to run efficiently on GPUs, particularly for large-scale problems. However, there is still a gap in effective GPU-based algorithms for general-purpose mixed-integer linear programming. This competition poses the challenge: How can we best utilize GPUs for MIP heuristics?
We particularly encourage the participation of students, especially those who have never implemented a GPU-based algorithm before. To reduce barriers for participation, registered teams will receive NVIDIA GPU cloud credits for the development of submissions, supported by
NVIDIA. In addition, NVIDIA is providing a total prize pool of $1500 in GPU cloud credits for winning teams.
