Cooperation with Other Bodies

IFORS
As one of the regional groupings of IFORS, EURO actively participates in the activities of IFORS. Since 1987, EURO appoints a "EURO Vice-President of IFORS" for a three-year period. This position was successively held by Jean-Pierre Brans (1989-1991), Jacob Krarup (1992-1994, Rainer Burkard (1995-1997), Dominique de Werra (1998-2000), Yannis Siskos (2001-2003), Philippe Vincke (2004-2006). The EURO Vice-President of IFORS reports each year to the EURO Council.

ALIO
ALIO (Associacion Latino-Ibero-Americana de Investigacion Operativa) is one of the four regional groupings of IFORS. The first ALIO-EURO Workshop on Practical Combinatorial Optimization was organized in Rio de Janeiro in 1989, by R.D. Galvão (Brazil) and S.K. Jacobsen (DK). A feature issue of EJOR has appeared in EJOR, Vol 58, 2(1992). The second workshop took place in Valparaiso, Chile (1996). The third ALIO-EURO Workshop on Practical Combinatorial Optimisation was organised by N. Maculan, F. Maffioli, F. Malucelli, P. Toth and A. Weintraub at Erice (Sicily, Italy), 2-7 November 1999. The fourth edition was organised in Pucon, Chile (2002). The fifth venue is scheduled in Paris, France (2005).
Proposals for similar ventures are hereby invited.

INFORMS
Since 1982 (with at the time TIMS), EURO organises in co-operation with INFORMS the joint EURO-INFORMS conferences. These belong to the regular serie of EURO-k conferences. The last EURO-INFORMS conference took place in Barcelona in 1997, and the next one is foreseen in Istanbul in 2003. Besides that common activity EURO organised the diffusion among its member societies of OR-MS today, the bi-monthly information journal of INFORMS.

EURO is from time to time invited to sponsor various meetings. Such sponsorships do not include any financial commitments but should be viewed merely as moral support.
