Purpose and history

The group was created in Madeira (Portugal) following the Euro Summer Institute on DSS, in May 1989. Researchers involved in this group meet each year in different countries. The first meeting was held in Fontainebleau (France); the second in Bruges (Belgium); then in Hungary and then in Sintra (Portugal). The group migrated to a cold country and the fifth meeting was organised in Turku (Finland) and then came back to a warm land for the sixth meeting in Samos (Greece). The seventh meeting was held in Ispra (Italy); then in Bruges again and then, our chairman Tawfik Jelassi organised the ninth meeting in Granada (Spain). For the tenth birthday the group came back to Turku. In 2000 the meeting was held in Toulouse (France) and in 2001 we met in Caiscas (Portugal). For 2002, the meeting of the group consisted of the Euro Mini conference devoted to DSS, and was held in Brussels, Belgium. In 2003 the business meeting of the group was held during the HCP2003 Conference in Luxembourg and sessions were also organised during the Joint EURO/INFORMS Conference in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2004, the business meeting of the group was organised during the IFIP WG8.3 international conference on Decision Support Systems in Prato, Italy. In 2005, a joint workshop with the ECUBE group and the e-participation project was organised in Graz, Austria by Fatima Dargam. In 2006, a workshop of the group was organised by P. An award of the best poster has been assigned to J. Hernandez coming from Valencia, Spain for the poster entitled: “A collaborative decision-making model to support the reverse logistic process in the supply chain. Research conducted in this group has for central theme: DSS. Some discussion on the future of DSS arose during the last meeting, as for example: "What will be DSS in the next decade and for the next millennium?" and "Will DSS be completely influenced by Internet and the Electronic commerce or not?". Some others questions related to Data-Mining, Data Warehouse or Knowledge Management are pertinent for the group members.
