Abstract
Ocado Logistics Data Science presents an optimisation framework for rich facility location problems. We provide an operational cost for a given scenario: the locations of a set of facilities and the geo catchment areas for each of those facilities. Using a custom just-in-time compiled interface, we can search this vast decision space very quickly in parallel. This ensemble simulation evaluated millions of facility combinations, incorporating constraints and edge-cases devised by stakeholders across the business. The findings directly drove decisions in Ocado Retail’s network expansion.
