Abstract
In eastern Taiwan, the slow transition to digital currency can offer numerous benefits for both consumers and operators. The Hualien and Taitung region are situated to the east of the Central Mountain Range. Roadways are the primary mode of transportation to external destinations. But, the last mile was very inconvenient. Therefore, the Demand Responsive Transportation System (DRTS) was established. The problems of DRTS are (1) users must verify their identity before receiving subsidies; (2) operating units face delays for DRTS subsidies and complex verification processes. (3) management units are tasked with overseeing several operational units concurrently; (4) the distance between supervisory and frontline units hinders real-time oversight.
The objective of this research is to address the challenges encountered by stakeholders and enhance the overall environment of the DRTS within the public transportation framework. This investigation focuses on the implementation of digital currency in the Hualien and Taitung regions, incorporating the principles of Ethereum blockchain technology. In order to optimize total operating expenses. This research employs advanced blockchain technology to enhance the transportation system of the Happiness Bus and address the challenges encountered by the broader DRTS, including data transparency, decentralized data management, and resistance to tampering.
