Abstract
New to the EURO conference this year is a stream dedicated to the growing OR discipline of Systems Thinking. This is a set of approaches to solving problems and supporting decision makers that can help to unravel the particular problems that come from dealing with complex, inter-related systems. These approaches are complementary to mathematical techniques and are particularly appropriate where human factors and perceptions of what is good can be as important as the optimum mathematical solution of the problem.
This workshop will provide an introduction to systems thinking approaches for both practitioners and practice-focused academics who deal with complex, systemic, ethically difficult or politically charged problems and who want to get a better understanding of where these approaches might be useful to them and how to apply them to real problems
