Abstract

Despite existing studies, several research gaps persist, necessitating an existing literature review of cold-chain logistics optimization. The literature remains fragmented, and only a few studies have comprehensively reviewed cold-chain logistics optimization using operational research (OR) techniques. Henceforth, the researchers need to compile and provide critical debate on OR techniques on various aspects of the cold chain. Therefore, this study applies the PRISMA method for the literature review and examines the literature from various perspectives. It provides integration of advanced technologies, comprehensive cost considerations, sustainability, and environmental impact.
This study makes both theoretical and practical contributions. Theoretical contributions include mapping OR techniques to identify trends, classifications, methodologies, and research gaps while synthesizing existing studies and providing a roadmap for future research. Additionally, it offers policy implications for sustainable cold-chain logistics. On the practical side, it provides actionable insights to enhance sustainability and efficiency in cold-chain operations.
