Abstract
Sensors that monitor equipment may predict a problem unnecessarily. If this happens more often, service engineers may ignore the warnings. We perform an experiment to test people’s reactions to warnings. Using our findings we improve the timing of warnings and perform a second experiment to confirm improved performance.
