Abstract
In the minds of the pioneers of the Strategic Choice Approach (SCA), the method was conceived as a learning process that facilitates problem perception and fosters the emergence of new knowledge and perspectives. The emphasis on representing the problematic situation reveals a distinct SCA aesthetic—as sensitive knowledge—that conveys insight into the process supporting decision-making. Moreover, SCA inherently enables the expression of problems in more accessible forms, leading to a deeper understanding and the development of shared knowledge at a collective level. This, in turn, strengthens group decision-making by fostering more robust and widely accepted choices among participants. Designed to manage multiple sources of uncertainty, SCA has demonstrated remarkable adaptability across diverse decision-making contexts, evolving over time with the support of specialized software tools.
This presentation traces the history of SCA and its latest applications, emphasizing its enduring relevance today.
